Question Factory 302/C6 combo

I've only had this truck for a little while, so I'm just learning about these things. One thing I've heard from Ford guys and also on this site is that the 302 usually came with a C4. Well, this one is a C6 and its' factory(code K). Is this unusual or is the 302/C4 thing just a myth? The truck is a 1979 F-150 2WD. It does have the 6150 GVW package but no tow package.

These trucks came in many combinations and could be special ordered in many more, -not unusual at all.

Thanks for the reply. This particular truck was bought off the showroom new in 1980 by my Grandfather. The options list doesn't say heavy duty anything except for the 6150 GVW and a super cooling package. I was figuring that Ford was just doing something Jeep was known for. If they run out of one thing, they would just use something else that fits just to keep production going. In this case, they were short on C4's so they used a C6. This is total conjecture, of course.

Substitutions did happen a lot and dealers also special ordered vehicles with certain combinations for their lot.
