Mystery Sensor and Rod/Crank bearing question

I recently picked up a 1988 302 from a Grand Marquis (E7TE block) and it has this sensor mounted in the side of the oil pan:

What is this thing? I haven't seen one of these before and I've worked on several EFI 302's.

Also I just have a question on whether I still have std size rod and main bearings.

Rod - C5OE-6211-A-B
Main - C5OE-6A338-A-B

Did Ford stamp the rod caps with the corresponding cylinder numbers from the factory? From every sign on this engine I think it is an untouched original. As the the gaskets have been stock Ford ones.

Nathan....I had the pan off my brand new crate motor from Ford, and was surprized to see the rod caps were stamped with the cyl number. Rod

Bearings are also marked .001 / .002 etc. Ford has standard red and standard blue bearings. Blues are .001.

Std rod bearings:

16-C2OZ-6211-R

Std main bearings:

4-C3AZ-6333-P .. Upper .0959"

4-C3AZ-6333-AA .. Lower .0959"

1-C3AZ-6337-P .. Thrust-Upper

1-C3AZ-6337-AA .. Thrust-Lower

That's the low oil level sensor. Ford always numbered the rods to the cylinders they came from. Mixed numbers are a sure sign the engine's been rebuilt by a reman shop. They'll take a batch of rods, go thru em resizing em and just grab em out of the box on the assembly line.

I guess it would be safe to assume it has std bearings then as I couldn't find any undersize numbers. I bought this engine block for an engine build, a 331 to be exact and I want to say I have a 5.4L . I've read all the posts how the 351W is better but for me it was Roller or nothing.
Here's some pics:

the late model 351's (1994-1997) have hydraulic rollers in them... thats what id use as far as a 351w goes. hey that looks just like the e6se block for my 347 stroker for my maverick... 1986 was the only year they used pistons like that. (or so says my research)

The E6SE headed motors were used up to 91 in the Crown Vic, Lincoln Town car, Marquis and some pickup/van 5.0's. It wasn't an 86 only engine.
