Given the age of these vehicles now, wouldn't it be easier, and a more thorough repair to just replace the wiring harness and be done with it instead of all this back-probing, then trying to unravel and repair? I bought a wiring harness ten years ago as a hedge against a day like this for myself.
was the injector you replaced in November on the driver side?
if yes I would guess a pinched or chaffed wire under the valve cover.
also unplug the fuel bowl heater.
Last year I only replaced the injector solenoid on #6, not the injector. Its interesting to me that with all the codes, 6 isn’t having any issues. 2, 4, & 8 have codes.
Tomorrow I’ll have some time to tear into it and see if there’s anything obvious in the valve cover.
Based on all the codes, I decided to start with a new injector solenoid on #8. That seemed to eliminate the worst of my issues, but it would still occasionally shut off on its own, just like I turned the key off. With the number of codes relating to harness issues, I decided to just change the valve cover gasket since I had a new one on the shelf. Just for kicks I also figured I’d change the CPS out for another new one.
Problem solved. 200 mile/4 hour test drive without a single hiccup. Not exactly sure which part was the culprit, but it’s running great, so I don’t really care at this point.
