Hey guys n gals, just got back from a trip, and on the way back my truck was acting funny.
My woman was driving, had the cruise on, then the truck "hiccupped". Ok so she took the cruise off, no problem for a few miles, then it hiccupped again, and set the CEL off. So we pulled over at the gas station, I checked the fluids, looked around a little, shut the truck off then took off again. CEL went away, and truck ran great.
Then we got to the city, first red light I was at it, I had my foot on teh brake, in drive, and it stalled out. No running rough, no hesitation, it just stalled. Started right up and I carried on.
I had to step on it a little bit to lane change and the truck missed for a second then took off. I stopped at the fuel station, filled up with fuel, and put a little conditioner in the tank, and drove home.
Im having problems with the starter I installed awhile back, it wont disengage, and I havent taken it off to get it warrantied, but other then that the truck has been running great.
It got all the oils changed not long ago (around 3500 KM for the oil), got new air and fuel filters at the same time (along with the diffs, and the tranny/transfer case)
Advice on where to look? (I also didnt search yet on here cause I just got home, and im on satelite internet and sometimes its very very slow)
X 3 on the CPS, classis symptoms Sheldon...Check that out first, other classic symptoms are cutting out completely and then cycling the key and a restart..
I was kinda thinking cps too, but just wanted some more opinions on it. I think I still have my cps recall letter so ill try to get er done for free today.
Got the new cps in today, so far no problems. The problems I did have were pretty intermitent though, so im not sure Ill be able to tell right away, but its done anyways!
Cam position sensor. It is located at the lower front of the engine right behind, beside, the crankshaft pulley. A search should bring up some great threads about it and how to change it.
