The 6637 does not have quite the OEM appearance that the AIS has, but it flows well, is readily available and can provide a clean look.

Below is a picture of the 6637 in my trucks engine bay.

Very clean. How important is it to have to pre filter cover? Truck isnt a daily driver and wont see dirt at all. Only highway

I don't have a scientific answer for that question. I installed a pre-filter because we travel the country with our truck towing a 5th wheel.

It sees everything from a Forest Service road in the Appalachians to a BLM spot in the desert of ID to a dry river bed in AZ to the sandy beaches of the Atlantic ocean. I figured it was a good idea to have the pre-filter. I can say that since installing the 6637 and pre-filter in 2018, I have only cleaned the pre-filter twice and the filter once. The filter looks brand new still and I only removed a small amount of debris from both of them.

The cover will prolong filter life at the expense of some added flow restriction. The choice is yours.

I’ve had 6637’s in the past but never ran the cover and didn’t have any issues.
While going to the T4 turbo kit I planned on using a 6637 so purchased a new filter and added a cover. Ran it for a few miles before deciding to make my old AIS work with the new setup.

So I guess you can say I’m not so concerned about a little loss of flow.
