Hello All,
I have been looking to get an exhaust pipe adapter to go from a 2 1/4" OD to a 3" OD pipe. The only adapter I can find is one that has a 2 1/4" ID inlet but a 3" OD outlet.
How do you put a pipe that is 3" OD into an adapter that has a 3" OD outlet? Is there a source that I have not seen that carries adapters with a 3" ID outlet that can be welded or clamped on?
I would think a muffler shop can expand exhaust pipe to meet your requirements with no problem. I have seen them expand tubing to just about any diameter up to 5”.
Mark is correct, they all have a machine that can swage the pipe oversize. I wonder with going that large a tube if you won't lose some of
the scavenging effect of your exhaust system.

Thank you guys for your suggestions.
The Motor Dyne Engineering article is interesting. I am really not interested in any increase or decrease in the performance due to the pipe size.
My truck is not a racer so the only reason for increasing the pipe size is that I think a bit larger diameter pipe simply looks better than the skinny 2 1/4" pipe.
When I had the system installed at the muffler shop the only pipes he had were the 2 1/4", so I went with that. I only want to increase the last 18 to 20 inches of
each pipe so whether or not there is any change in the HP will not be significant to me. Anyway......who wouldn't want a larger pipe for whatever reason?
I probably will go back to the muffler shop that made up the system. I will let you know what I do.
