Ive got a 1999 f250 super duty and it didnt come with a passenger airbag shutoff switch from the factory. so i switched my dash bezel with one that had a passenger airbag switch in it and it was really just plug and play. but since I plugged it in it doesnt work and now the airbag light on my dash comes on and flashes code 35 at me on start up and then stays on while im driving. I have already pulled the switch back out and tested it with a volt meter for resistance and even tested the light on the circuit board with a battery and everything checks out. Why could my airbag light be on?
Ok first thing to do is put it back the way it was before the switch install. Does your error go away? If so you know the switch wasn't just plug and play. You either have to do some wiring or programming or both.
Your code means that you have a closed circuit to pins 8 and 9 on the diagnostic module monitor which is looking for the resistance of the air bag. Don't get this confused with an open circuit where pin 8 and 9 do not contact each other. Code 35 will mean that say the module is looking for 5ohms but is receiving 1ohm. I don't have schematics for said truck but that is where I would start.
