i have a 1994 f-150 the air bag light keeps going on and off some times it blinks fast some times slow then theres times its on for like a 1/2 hr stright all the wires are good im really close to ripping the wheel off and putting on a aftermarket on has any one eles have this problem if so how did u fix it
It's sending a trouble code. When there is an error in the system, the computer records it, and causes the light to blink, indicating an error. Have the code read at a shop, dealership or AutoZone will run them for free.
Jenkins6586, Try to see if there is a pattern to the flashing. Mine flashes 4 times with a 1 second break and then 4 more times and a 6 second break before starting over again. That code is 44 or, the right frame mounted sensor. If you can discern a code I can look it up for you.
I DONT KNOW IF THE 99 F250 SUPER DUTY EXTCAB IS THE SAme setup if so the air bag light on my dash was due to the passenger side airbag shutoff switch was no good. IT WAS A STEADY LIGHT THOUGH NOT FLASHING.
No it cannot cause the bag to go off, it's a dealer only part, and will run somewhere between 60 and 80 us dollars. It's under the sterring wheel, mine went bad, and now the rest of the plastic is getting ground up, and the contacts are shorting when I turn the wheel causing the horn to go off.
