My OD light is blinking and check engine light came on (mostly when I come to a stop). P0720 code. I changed the output sensor on transmission, no change. Wiring seemed to look fine. Is there a transmission temp sensor in the 2001 (there is no gauge). Change fluid and filter? Any other ideas?
If the OD light is blinking that means the transmission has a trouble code set, that’s separate from the PCM and engine codes and simple code scanners can’t read the trans codes. Forscan can read the trans codes, which should get you the info you need to troubleshoot it.
Saying the wiring looks fine is totally meaningless. The wiring needs to be checked for continuity from the PCM to the sensor, and for shorts to ground and to power.

Yes but this isn't a TFT issue and no, changing the fluid and filter won't address the stated fault.
Wiring seemed to look fine.
A cursory visual inspection can only reveal gross defects. If none are obvious, you'll need to step up your troubleshooting game.
Use your scan tool to monitor the OSS signal while test driving to see if you can better characterize what the PCM is seeing. It may be noisy, erratic, or reduced amplitude which can cause the PCM to squawk about it. Once you have a better handle on the nature of the fault, you can better figure out how to address it.
I got around to getting Forscan and a connector. Here are the codes it gives. P1000, P0325, P0503, P0720, P0722, B1869, C1145. I notice there is a lot of live data you can get while driving. I went ahead and added a few transmission items and no fault in Shift Solenoid 1 Status, Shift Solenoid 2 Status, Transmission Fluid Temperature Status, or Transmission Range Status.
You should probably focus on the OSS codes (P0503, P0720, P0722) first instead of getting distracted by the other stuff. Pull up the PID for the OSS sensor and monitor it while driving (safely). If it's missing or erratic, go back to the previous recommendation to check the integrity of the OSS signal wires between the sensor and the PCM. That will require the use of a meter.
The knock sensor (P0325), airbag (B1869), and ABS (C1145) codes can wait.
I agree, just not sure where to do from here with tracking down the problem. I figure it's best to start small (wiring, sensors, etc.) before spending money on a new transmission. Anything in Forscan live data that could point me in the right direction?
