My overdrive light blinks sometimes, It seams when I am pulling a hill or on it hard. Started about four months ago. od light came on and the truck died. started back up did this for about 300 miles. Changed the CPS and the truck has not died again. OD light still flash tho. I pulled code and nothing.
What could be causing it
Thanks for the help
The basic scan readers won't be able to read codes for the transmissions. You'll need to find someone with AutoEnginuity (AE) to read the codes from your transmission.
I bet it's just a basic scanner that most auto part stores use to check check engine lights with. As stated that will not tell you anything. AE and I believe the fancy smanchie snapon should do the trick.
And what's wrong with that? Do you normally expect people to just give you their labor free? And what about the cost of the tool they had to buy to be able to read the codes?
I don't know if it's any different with these than the OBS, but my OBS used to do this. The O/D light would flash or come on and the tranny would spaz. It would jump pressures way up, shift super hard and a couple months later the tranny quit.

If you ignore the flashing light and keep driving that's usually what happens. If you get the codes read you can find out what's wrong and fix it. Sometimes it is something really simple.
