Blinking OD Light/Hard Trans Shifting

I was driving my 4 cylinder Ranger and after a sudden hard shift of the transmission, the OD Light on the dash began to blink. This blinking continued until I pulled over and shut the engine off. I restarted the engine and the OD Light did not blink on an off. This has occurred several times during the past several weeks. Sounds like it might be a computer glitch. Any idea on what is causing this and any info you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

TAKE IT TO THE TRANNY SHOP! That is what that light is telling you....... The only time it should light is if YOU hit the o/d cancel button, if it blinks, or stays lit it is setting a code because an internal sensor/clutch/whatever is failing. Get the codes scanned and go from there.

Like pfogle sez get the codes pulled, if you're lucky it's just a bad speed sensor. If you dont want to take 2 minutes to pull the trouble code yourself take it to Autozone.
