HPO Leak

Hello All,

After some significant maintenance, injectors (Ford remans), HGs, studs, lifters, lower end seals and gaskets, etc. It was running rough when we started, but now have a no start.

While cranking it will only build up to 250 psi and will bleed completely off between cranking. Air testing at the ICP, we are getting air blowing out of the IPR drain port.

is this an indication of a bad pump?

How are you closing the IPR when doing the air test?

I wasn’t which is why it was a dumb question.

I now see how the pump is designed and how the IPR operates to dump/regulate the pressure.

I have it plugged manually and have 180 psi of air hitting the system and it’s quiet.

We will energize the IPR to see if it closes.

I’ll report back shortly…

I plugged my IPR test fitting to validate. No leaks either direction.

Bad IPR

Energized the IPR and it won’t close. Put a new one on and closed immediately.

case closed, I hope!

You need to take it for a fairly good drive and include some reasonably heavy accelerations (don't go wild though, lol).

Maybe just air in the system.

I’m Skeard…., lol

I’m going to wait for all this rain to pass then I’ll get it out on the highway. It’ll be a few days before the test equip shows up.
