Was having an issue with the brake lights not working at all pedal positions. They would come on until you got passed about halfway and then with pedal pressed they stayed off.
I looked under the dash and found that one of the 2 wires coming off the back of the pedal assembly had a decent bit of wire insulation missing and it appeared the frayed wires were losing connection when getting stretched. I put some electrical tape around that are and at the moment it is working fine but obviously not a permanent fix.
My question is this...Can I just replace those wires, or is there a whole assembly I need to get?
Look for a plunger switch that is attached to the pedal assembly. It should be adjustable with an outer switch body nut. Sounds like that is loose and maybe not adjusted correctly.
I would be difficult to replace the entire wiring for the brake light switch. That is part of the main under dash wiring harness. If the wires are frayed just where it plugs into the switch, you can cut the damaged section out and splice in a new section.
Do you have a switch that looks like this? Pay no mind to the aftermarket cruise control switch attached to the pedal. X2 it should be easy to replace the damaged wiring and give you more slack, so it is not getting pulled tight.

That is likely what I will do is just cut out the damaged part and splice in a new wire. The part that is missing the insulation is pretty much in the middle of the wire so hopefully it won't be too hard to fix.

I am not sure honestly....I did not get all the way under the dash yet to check that out
That part is not really way up under the dash, it should be right there just up from the brake pedal.
I just couldn't get the angle...between family's cars visiting for easter and stuff I could not even open the door halfway...I am gonna check it all out later
