Lowering my 51 F1

Lowering my 51 F1
Hate to bother you all but I have rummaged through the threads in this segment (my short attention span usually limits me to 40-45 pages then I give up and do this.....) and couldn't find anything that addresses lowering the rear suspension on a 51 F-1. I imagine other years around that vintage would be similar. After having a careful look at the setup as it sits now I am failing to see where putting the rear axle on top of the springs or spacer blocks are going to work. I am hoping that someone will have a suggestion or two. Thanking you in advance for your time and consideration.

I think the issue you'll run into flipping the axle on an F1 to the top of the springs is that it doesn't leave a lot of room for suspension travel. There's not a lot of kickup on the frame, and the distance between the top of the springs and the bottom of the frame is minimal without cutting and welding in a C-notch. That takes project complexity up several levels, depending on skill level and experience. Swapping out springs and/or shackles to something designed to do the job may be preferable.

I used the Heidt's mustang 2 independent front suspension with coil overs and the front sway bar. Mustang II HEIDTS® Front Suspension Kit & Mustang 2 IFS Parts - HEIDTS . that handled the front. The rear was much easier. I used the posies springs on the rear.POSIES Rods and Customs – Super Slide Springs – Street Rod Parts – Hot Rod Parts – Truck Parts – Ford and Chevy Suspensions and Chassis Parts » POSIES Classic Truck Springs. then I flipped the rear shackle and moved the front shackle up.

Thank you for your quick response. I am digging into the Super Slide springs now. Forgive my ignorance however, I am not sure what you mean by flipping the rear shackle but I am pretty sure I can figure out the moving up of the front shackle part. Thanks again for your help. That'll get me where I need to go. Very much appreciated. Pete
