So my next one I might need the heated seats as well. Hopefully that will be a way down the road though. Right now I am so busy I can’t stop to think. Work is been way busy. We are short staffed and trying to find people has proven to be very difficult. When Covid lockdowns came and I went back part time to help a friend I never thought I would not be farming mostly. But trying to find workers for us has just been tough. So I work full time and then some and farm on the side. I didn’t do much hay this year as I was just swamped at work. Hurt my back and was down for a week flat. Next year I don’t know how I will get all my hay done plus work.
Haying is a lot of work and lots of jolting tractor time. Don't beat yourself up to much.

I remotely start my truck with my phone... and I always smile at my wife and say... 'because I spent the big bucks!'

Actually, besides remotely starting your truck, it tells you other stuff... like where it's at. I used the app when my truck was in the shop for collision repair. When the guy on the phone told me 'your truck is in the bay!' I could look and see EXACTLY where it was.

Scraprat. Is changing the cabin air filter difficult? I had it done at the dealership when I went out of town and such. I am getting ready for oil and filter change again and was going to do this myself this time. Before dropping truck off to get rotate and balance while I am at a conference this next week. So when I return it’s all good to go.

yeah technology is something else for sure. I do upload a pic of receipts and such of my maintenance and such to that ford app thing. Mine is just a XL so I bet those with upper trim levels get a lot more features. One of my friends has some app where he sets the temperature and gets is heated seats going and all.He has a different manufacturer vehicle. His is not for work though but play. Maybe one of these days I will upgrade to the fancy stuff if I live that long. For now I just need it to work and like investing my dollars into land and 4 legged couch covers. lol. Plus I have 3 daughters that will cost me a lot to get married off one day. At least that’s what the boss lady tells me. We need to set aside for their weddings. I am like the courthouse is cheap. lol.

Made my 1st run of the year from NV to WA back to NV of 2,095 miles. Same exact route up and back.

North run (30 miles of local running around before leaving on first tank) 65-85 mph traveling speeds with no wind conditions. 13.95 average
237 miles ÷ 19.29 gal = 12.28 mpg
425 miles ÷ 29.00 gal = 14.65 mpg
400 miles ÷ 26.78 gal = 14.93 mpg

South run (46 miles of city driving on first tank) 65-85 mph traveling speeds with windy conditions. I was a little more aggressive passing vehicles. 13.63 mpg average.
345 miles ÷ 28.30 gal = 12.19 mpg
295 miles ÷ 20.78 gal = 14.19 mpg
423 miles ÷ 29.11 gal = 14.53 mpg

These are some consistent #s and winter blend showing atleast .5 - 1 mpg hit from my summertime #s. Overall average for this run 13.79 mpg.

That is so true. One of the reasons I keep farm going as well. They help and learn responsibility and work ethic. We were out feeding today after doing the truck maintenance. They help a lot. Each one in there own way kids. It’s a family thing. The wife comes out a lot. I would not change it for anything. I do need to build a shop though. I am getting to the point the gravel driveway is not as soft as it was 10 years ago.

Many moons ago we did the farm also but the kids were a little older and didn't appreciate it after being spoiled in the suburbs first. We had a Jersey milking cow for a few years, couple pigs off and on, geese, ducks, 50 chicken/ roosters mostly for the freezer but always had dozen plus layers, dozen turkeys every other year and 3 horses. Lots and lots of hard work. Nothing better than fresh everything that you raised yourself. Then the large garden for frozen vegetables and canned meats. The wife and kids did most of it because I've always worked on the road. But when it was butchering time it made for long days.

yeah it is hard work but the fresh food is good for sure. The girls usually up until this year keep about 50 hens in rotation. The girls 12 and 9. Raised their first flock totally by themselves a few years ago. We have had them on farm since before the 9 year old was born. But they made a little business and did quite well. The 12 year old got money savvy very quickly after the fur year as I paid for first year’s feed. 2nd and last year she had it down pat for keeping up her books. We do the same with roosters. We will get more this spring but last summer was a vacation year so as the flock dwindled we just held off getting more this fall. We have cows and dog and a FFA show rabbit. I had a horse coming my brother trains and starts colts. He got injured broke his pelvis and the mare got sold by owner before he could let the owner know I was Goto purchase. It was going to be for my 9 year old she rides at a local arena and club. Does 4h . Now waiting on the brother to find another good buy for me. We only have 7 acres I lease a few hundred for cattle and hay fields. We are trying to buy a larger farm now to build a retirement home on and both girls want to do the pig and goat thing as well. The 12 year old understands cash flow and profits pretty well and cost of keeping things going. The 9 year old has the entrepreneur spirit and will work and comes up with marketing designs. Simple stuff but they get it. They made a sign and put it up at end of driveway and had a cooler full of eggs. Knew after trial and error what time people came home from work in afternoons. Yep they were getting 5 to 10 dollars a dozen. Some of the older retired folks said she was slicker than a used car salesman. One neighbor said he had 5 in his hand and she looked and said are you sure 1 dozen is enough. If you get 2 dozen your wife could bake you a pie with the extras. He said well I only have enough money for 1 dozen today. She said well I will give you two for 5 today and come down and get the money tomorrow. He said how much she said a small pick up fee and interest so you don’t have to get back out. Does 20 sound fair. He said he couldn’t resist. lol. I do also make them give so many dozen away to certain neighbors. The ones that are struggling. So give and save. Hopefully they will grow up and be a good part to contribute to society.

Today I picked up a nail in a rear tire. Lucked out and noticed it at the hotel parking lot this afternoon so no early morning flat tire surprise. Couldn't be repaired because not enough tread depth left. Wanted another 5k or so miles out of them... oh well. Going to try these Cooper Discoverer ATP II. I'll see how the mileage is with these. 150,579 miles on truck.
