I have a 7.3l xl F350 CCLB 4x4 4.30 rear. I love the truck and really have no complaints about it at all. So far I have had the oil and filter changes at the local dealership. I have just taken the time to read a book and such during the 3 to 4 hour wait for a scheduled appointment to have an oil change performed. After my last oil change my patience finally ran out. I watched people who came in after me get in and out quickly while I waited and waited. Today I thought well I will just run through the Quick Lane get a oil change I have a coupon. And then head onto the field to cut hay. Was I wrong. They said I needed an appointment or it could take all day. I got some canned stealership line of why and how the technician’s were so trained and why it takes that long to get a oil change. I absolutely about lost it but held my composure long enough to say that is fine I am done with getting service here. The manager comes over and ask me why I am leaving without getting the oil change. I said it doesn’t take 3 to 4 hours to change oil on a truck. I understand being in line but don’t feed me the company line. He not so nice asked me how long it would take me if I even knew how. And had the special tools to do it. These people think everyone is an darn idiot. I have a 11 year old daughter who can do it. The problem is they have people that are managers that don’t have a clue about service and it showed once i started telling him just how quickly in great detail down to wrench size etc. i could do it myself. He had no clue what he was talking about. I am no mechanic. Just a farmer that has to make repairs on my own equipment sometimes and can do oil changes on my own.
sorry for the rant. But Ford if you are listening. You might want to do some changes to the way customers are being treated at dealerships. And i was not the only frustrated person in line. People are getting sick of the bs lines and excuses. So I stopped by my local parts store and grabbed oil filter air filter oil and will just do it myself.
When I change mine, it's about 20 minutes. I'd rather not take it to the dealer to get an over-tightened drain plug and oil spillage everywhere anyway.
I don’t speak down to my kids the way some of these people speak to adults. I mean they were talking to an older lady as if she was dumb as a rock and they were superior. Yes up until I bought this truck i had changed my own oil and most all maintenance on my old 1994 f150 for many years. Looks like i will be doing it with this one now. I can’t handle right out lies and I don’t blame the workers they are just doing as they are told. Well I hope. Yes time to get down in the gravel driveway under the oak and do it myself.
The problem is the dealerships are not owned by Ford but if they receive complaints sometime they contact the dealer. At one time Ford would send out a online survey after a service was performed and they did read them as I found out after I had the worst oil change experience I've ever had at the dealer I bought my 2013 F350 from. I wasn't contacted by Ford but the service manager over all 3 of their dealerships did and made a lot of excuses but no meaningful remedy. I was contacted later if my problem was resolved and I said yes because they will never see me there again, problem solved .
Just last year we bought a one year old Ford certified 2020 F150 with almost 30K miles, it was 200 miles from us and we didn't want to go there so we basically did it online. It came with a 1year 12K extended bumper to bumper warranty and 100K drivetrain warranty. After they delivered it I started checking things out and found nothing was checked and but maybe the oil was changed, I really started looking when I found a dirty air filter. After many calls I finally ended up dealing with the dealership manager and they sent my new air filter, cabin filter and a new cover for under the transmission that was falling off, and after arm twisting my extended warranties. They keep on telling me I had it but when I told them it doesn't show up on my FordPass account they finally gave it to us.
I would suggest you open a FordPass account and always enter your maintenance that you have preformed so you have a record of it at Ford. When you get one every service any dealership did on your truck should be there.
I am interested in this ford pass thing. How do i do that. In past years i just used a 3 ring binder and kept up with everything I ever did to my old 94. Ford. Gave it to the new owner when i sold it.
well I don’t know why i went to a dealership for oil change. I just did. Never really done it before and was kinda getting tired of laying on gravel. But I don’t think i will be going back. Lesson learned. I just changed the oil and filter. Also the air filter. Cleaned up all my tools cranked truck let it run cked for leaks. Topped of windshield wiper fluid. Easy as it ever was. Well air filter was a little stubborn lol. Had to get my glasses on to see how it unhooked lol.
I've done my own maintenance for decades.
For me, auto maintenance/repair/modifications is a hobby and I very much enjoy it.
Doing it myself ensures it's done right not to mention it's much much cheaper.
I always have a couple filters & oil staged in the garage so I can change at my convenience when it's time.
PS: Rented a car (turo.com) two weeks ago. I checked the oil...it was at least 30% over filled 🤦♂️
So glad I don't have to deal with that.
Dealer customer service has gone downhill, especially after covid. You can contact Ford customer service, they do pay attention and black marks go against the dealership which they hate. When possible try to do your own maintenance and find a shop for what you can't do..

I will be following that advice for sure. It takes a lot to get me upset like i was today. I mean a lot. I can handle most any idiot and just let it go. But I sure was upset today. Not so much about how I was treated but the lady and others. I honestly have not been that blasted outright mad since my wife was pregnant and I was pouring a slab of concrete by our back porch. A little 8x8 area. I had formed it up and had ordered some quick creat mixing in a wheel barrel. I had my wife drive up to lowes to pick it up and asked if they would load it for her because she was due any day. She came home in tears because they would not help her load it. I made a special trip up to discuss with the management. She only could load about half before she was done. She calmed me down some before i went up to get the rest. I was livid. I can understand not finding good help and such. But maybe don’t have 6 people sitting at a computer typing for 15 minutes and hire people to change oil. Use your more experienced techs to check the work and do more complicated work. To me its more of a management issue than lack of people. I have an 11 year old that knows how to change oil for goodness sake. And heck i don’t even install wiper blades on my wifes car anymore. She drives up to the local parts store not a chain store mom n pop one. And he gets what she needs takes the money walks out pops them on for her and she is back on her way. He does this for a lot of customers. I have to tell him no when i buy mine. We need mom n pop stores back in the mix now days like his store. Great guy his dad is great. 3 generations. I love it. He is always trustworthy and honest.
Lowes thing would make me angry for sure. No call for that. I worked for Menards for 22 years until we moved, no store close, but I still help people as a customer load their car or cart. But dealerships service sucks. 3 months to get a replacement cat for my wife's truck and 2 months for the appointment and they act like they are doing you a favor. Our next house will have a garage big enough for a lift, and won't need to go anywhere.

tell me what this Ford Pass thing is.
Just download the app create a account and enter your vin number and it will all pop up.
If the dealership hasn't entered the information get on them to do so.
What I have done because many times we are away from our home base so I can't service it is to draw a line across the air cleaner and write the the mileage when it was changed so when they come out with a dirty filter to show me I tell them to put the one I had marked back into the truck, in most cases they see it and don't try and sell me one.

Does this cost money like a subscription fee or is it just an app that cost one time fee and all. I guess if i get it i can just upload my receipts to it or just take pictures when I change oil and such. Thank you for the info for sure.
