Goodyear has come a long way in tire quality over the years, IMHO. Glad to see them standing up to their duty. I loved the set on my 2019, and was disappointed to see Ford moving to the Bridgestones on the 23 models. Honestly, they look almost identical to the Wranglers of before, but just never been a Bridgestone fan. Almost 4k on them now and so far, they've been fine. We'll see how they do.
I wonder if you'll notice any mpg improvement going to a less aggressive tire. On such a heavy truck like a SD, tires don't affect the MPGs as much as a F150 I'm sure, but I'm still curious.

Yea... I was NOT happy when I saw those Bridgestones on my '23.
Goodyear was always my go-to for tires, not only for the pickups, but when I owned my (Class 8) International. We got 240K out of our original set of drives, and another 220K out of our caps... but they wouldn't cap them a 2nd time. On the pickups, I usually got the Goodyear RT/s tire, but when I bought my 1999 SuperDuty, they either discontinued the RT/s, or they didn't make it in my size... so I switched to Cooper AT/3's, and have been a very happy camper since. I'mma run the Bridgestones until December... then get a set of Coopers.

I'll see today with a run down to NM of 740 miles. Set the cruise for 4 over and enjoy the scenery. 😉

Ended up doing 901 miles 2 fuel ups totaling 62.55 gallons. 2 short side trips into Denver and Albuquerque so there was 50 miles of city driving. Highway speeds from 75 to 82 mph most of the drive with some windy conditions. 14.40 mpg average on the way down. Minus the city driving we'll see the reverse trip end of next week. 😉
Going through my mileage book for 2022 and getting some #s.
1/1/22 _ 39,402 miles _ engine hours 903 _ idle hours 232
1/1/23 _ 84,555 miles _ engine hours 2,053 _ idle hours 600
3,474.12 gallons, 87 octane with a few 89 throughout the year. For my driving & use conditions, over all average for the year is 12.99 mpg.
This years done for me traveling and going through the 2023 mileage book.
12/28/23 _ 129,415 miles _ engine hours 3,305 _ idle hours 1,044
Totals 44,860 miles _ engine hours 1,247 _ idle hours 443
3,535.14 gallons, For my driving & use conditions, over all average for the year is 12.69 mpg.
Difference from last year to this was a decrease of .30 tenths of mpg.
Drove 293 miles less but had 97 more engine hour and 75 more idle hour compared to previous year.
After 32 months of ownership the only thing that was needed to be replaced besides normal preventive maintenance items are the 2 lift supports for the hood which stopped holding the hood up about a month or so ago when in Utah on a 15f morning. Opened hood to check oil and heard both struts pop. Replacing those today with a pair I got from O'Reillys yesterday.
Stabilus extended length 17 1/4" lift support #4B965360 $15.99 each.
Changed the hood lift supports on the truck. Original driver side was shot (no compression), passenger side still had strong compression but still changed it out, will save it if needed down the road.
New one were maybe a 1/4" longer but seem to work perfectly.
Cool post and a detailed longevity report for a short time. You have done an quivalent of 20 yr of real word testing compared to my 4-6000 miles a year. I have pretty good confidence in my set up to do what I need it to.
There are some crazy folks in Gastonia Nc.
Check out David Ghantt. There is a goofy movie based on them loons. Masterminds. It's a hoot.

Wow, we dont see that as much as we should. Wearing out the hood lift supports from checking the condition of the engine. I guess I am old school and dive under the hood just to look at everything and enjoy the hands on maintenance.
Some guys never look under the hood.

I like to look everything over before my drives you just never know.
Scraprat i am pushing 60k no complaints yet. I just drive it and work it. I do need to wash it more. But something about the aroma of cow pies in the morning just gets the blood flowing. I do need an oil change and tires rotated and balanced again. I will probably need new tires soon trying to wait until spring. I need to go back and read through your threads to see if I am missing anything. You document so well. I have been so busy working and trying to keep the farm going I have not had much time to keep up here on the forum much. All I know is so far the truck has done everything I have asked. I still have not replaced the windshield wiper arm’s from the recall. That is something I do need to do. They pop off every so often and I put the key back in and just forget to get it done. I was going to do the oil this weekend but we had a bunch of rain and it’s wet and muddy out. Guess it’s time to get a tarp out to lay on hope you and everyone had a Merry Christmas and happy new year.
I noticed on my Ford app that I need to do the wiper arm and headrest recall. One of the days.
My daughter got my ford app set up for me. Now the truck is warmed up in the morning as I get my hot coffee and head out to work before the rooster crows. I had no idea I could crank the truck being an XL remotely with a darn app on my phone. Now the wife is jealous lol. We are getting ready to get her a new vehicle. I am trying to sway her to a F150 but I think she is set on some Subaru or some other suv type thing. I am like honey sweetheart a truck with a nice camper shell has way more room and it can help me on the farm at times lol.

i use the app also to start the truck up at the hotels on the cold mornings for 10 minutes so the heat is ready by the time I'm ready to roll. Oh...I hate to admit it but I'm addicted to the heated seats.

you are in luxury with heated seats lol. The wife has that on her wishlist for new vehicle. I will have to admit this year for the first time ever I have been colder or at least seems to bother me more. On days like this one I usually throw a long sleeve on jump on tractor and head out with hay. Today I had to put a coat on gloves and hoodie. The wife says it’s a sign of me getting older. So my next one I might need the heated seats as well. Hopefully that will be a way down the road though. Right now I am so busy I can’t stop to think. Work is been way busy. We are short staffed and trying to find people has proven to be very difficult. When Covid lockdowns came and I went back part time to help a friend I never thought I would not be farming mostly. But trying to find workers for us has just been tough. So I work full time and then some and farm on the side. I didn’t do much hay this year as I was just swamped at work. Hurt my back and was down for a week flat. Next year I don’t know how I will get all my hay done plus work.
