Brake problem

I replaced all 4 calipers and fluid on my 00 7.3 excursion. Went all the way around twice bleeding the system. Brakes pumped up, but upon driving the pedal is soft and can be pumped up a little bit. Pedal is soft and goes to floor the 1st time I apply pedal. Went through and bleed system again, but problem is still there. Any suggestions??

Are all your fittings tight, any leaks in your lines? If their good, as suggested above, keep bleeding!!!!

You might need to bleed the ABS module if you allowed air into it. Need a computer that can communicate with the ABS to do that, though.

Do not know how you are bleeding the system but a power blender helps, also FORScan can do the ABS bleed as well. Keep repeating until it is good. May take a few quarts depending on how much air you got in the system.

Take it to a gravel lot and do some hard braking, otherwise take a hose from the farthest caliper to the reservoir and pump, this will force the air to the highest point.

Another option is gravity bleeding with a bottle, internal straw submerged in brake fluid on the caliper and pump, this should help remove air.

^^^...This is what I had to do to clear up the last little bit when I replaced my ABS control module...

Pedal slowly dropping to the floor is classic master cylinder failure. At least it was on every pre-ABS car I've ever worked on. Make sure you bench bleed the master cylinder before you put it on or you'll be spending a month trying to get all the air out of your system.

I'm pretty sure you can google up a youtube video on how to bench bleed a master cylinder. This is a pretty generic procedure. The process is identical for pretty much every car on the planet that has one.
