I'm going to have to do some floor pan work on my '72 Camper Special. I bought pans, and am going to tackle it once the weather warms up a bit. Are there any good tutorials or videos on this? The driver side only needs a fairly small area done, but the passenger side is a mess. Someone bondo'ed over the old rust, making it worse by trapping moisture under there. The replacement pans don't fit well yet, as I haven't done any cutting yet. I need to see how this is done, as well as cutting the old floor away from the rockers and cab mounts. I'm guessing this might be easier if I unbolt the cab and tip it on its back?
My truck was fully disassembled at the time. Bed was off and cab set back. As far as cutting them out, I just pre drilled the spot welds. Then, with a bigger bit, I drilled the spot weld in the floor pan to separate with a chisel. They do make tools for this that make it easier but I just made it work. I didnt want to mess with the location of the cab mounts by cutting too far up into the mounts. I ended up not having to go up too far on the floors anyway.
On this one, I cut up higher after the three sides were welded in. That way I didnt expose too much cab mount.
