Does anyone know how far up the floor replacement panels that you can buy here at FTE go up the firewall? Do they go to the point where the floor bends vertical? Do they go to the top of the cab mounts? I have a rubber insulator matt coming down out of the dash along the top of the floorboard to where the firewall and floorboard meet. Do they go up that high?
I guess I just really need to know what parts I can replace with the floorboard replacements.
I need to replace the driver and passenger sides of my floorboard, as high school students used it to try replacement patches and it looks like total @*#&.
RA, All of the floors are the same from 65 to 79. I actually cut one out for replacement in my 66, but found other panels at the doors to be too rotten. In 73 a 4" piece was added to the rear of the pan, that can easily be cut off.
Like you said...some parts of used material are in bad shape...
I have rust eating through the angle and up where the floorboard's angle actually goes vertical at the firewall, near and on the top portion of where the cab mounts go. New parts or patch panels will fix this, but I need to know how high a replacement floor pan will go.
Should I buy a new floor pan and other pieces...or just the floorpan? That is what I am trying to find out.
If you'll go out and look, you will see the seam on the firewall angle/vertical, it is spot welded about a hundred times, (1/4" dimples) The floor is spot welded along the angle, across the flat on the sides and then across the back. The cab mounts are welded to the pan on the angle. They let dirt get caught in there and it rots the floor out. Floors that have carpet rust even more. I don't know of anyone selling a replaycement floor pan. I lot of times the bottom of the mount is shot also.
I can't see your truck, so I am shooting in the dark.
Robert,
I noticed in a catalog I received from Carolina Classics that they offer replacement floor pans for 61-64 F100. They appear to just cover the bottom and do not go any further. I think I have some of the same problems you do, and have some "holes" on the panel moving up the firewall where the dimmer switch is, but I think that a patch would work. You might want to contact them and ask for a catalog, as it does have sheet metal stuff you might be interested in.

Robert - there's a picture of those 61-64 floor pans in my gallery. I took it at PF. Sure wish they'd made those when I needed mine. You can easily shape a small piece of sheetmetal to replace what the replacement panels don't cover. Make a nice pattern with some cardboard and go from there. Good luck,
