ive cut mine out and in process of welding new floor pans in using sheet metal. could order new floor pans but the 4x8 sheet of metal was free. some people just pop rivot stuff on but i would recommend welding as it is a stronger solution. it would depend on how bad the floors are. in my case they were rotted extensively. as for tools a hammer, grinder with zip cut wheels vise grips and welder would all be helpfull.
cab corners and rockers can be cut to fit rotted areas.and welded back on
When doing this make sure you support(braces) the cab itself before cuting out the pan if replacing entire pan at one time.or the doors won't fit back in the openings.

Anyone that's done this before have any tips on fitting the new pans? I've cut the old sections out, just the area your feet rest and part way up the slanted part under the pedals, and it seems the biggest challenge is getting the new panels to fit into the area that was cut out. I'm trying to get a tight fit so they can be welded in.
A mig welder is a must, and with the gas kit is even better. If you are new to welding I would practice for a while on sraps first. The better the fit on panels the easier it is to weld. Make the pieces larger and keep grinding and checking until it is just right. It is a slow process so dont rush it. If you have gaps the welder will blow through and make tons more work in the end.
I had to make relief cuts to get the patch panels to fit in where the old panels were. Once I did that, I could push the panels in/out to get them just right. Then, I took my cutoff wheel and made cuts between the new and old metal, which left a perfect gap (about 1/8") to put a nice bead in with the mig. I did this in short sections, and it turned out sweet.
