Alright I got the rear blocks, shocks and brake lines on and ready to go!
The stock 4 inch blocks worked just fine for a leveled truck tho it looks like the rear sags but according to the body lines the rear is exactly 1” higher than the front. So if you’re not going to be towing a whole lot then the 4” blocks should be fine!
The shocks were no problem, popped the old out and the new ones went right in!
The brake line for the rear was a pistol to get the old one off, it sets on a “shelf” and allows a lot of rust and corrosion to build up so you need to be careful you don’t round off that little 7/16 copper nut. The old brake line went back on the opposite way (picture)👇🏻 It points down instead of up like the stock one did. Not a big deal really I just don’t like that it’s hanging down to catch on a piece of road debris and leave me brakeless! Each side of that little block has different size ports so it has to go that way. Not a whole lot you can do, I will need new pre-bend ss brake lines soon so that may fix the problem depending how they come!
Taking it to get an alignment in the morning then I’ll post the Finished Product Of Step 1
I forgot to mention that the SRW sway bar end links are different than the DRW end links! The SRW are straight and the DRW have an offset to them. So one less thing you need to take from the donor!
You can see it in pictures above 👆🏻
You know come to think about it the donor truck did have those same brackets bolted to the bottom of the frame, my DRW had the ends bolt directly to the side of the frame… odd??
Next step, well the oil cooler is leaking like a sieve so while I’m there I think I’ll do a flush and new water pump!
I’ll probably drop the zf5 and t-case from the donor and have them rebuilt, the t-case is locked up currently I’ve read that it just needs some oil and tlc to get it working but I’d sure feel better knowing they’re ready for the road!
I thought I had things aligned pretty well with a rough tape measure in the tires but she wanders all over the place! I tested most everything to make sure it’s correct, balk joint tie rod ends etc. so an alignment will hopefully help!
Hey thanks y’all!
Well the alignment shop couldn’t quite get it taken care of because the steering box is going out, they are able to wobble the steering wheel and it slowly rotated but the tires don’t move!!
So is a RedHead the way to go?
@Edgethis What kind of set up do you have? It’s always fun to hear about your truck lol
