Really?? I'm surprised to hear that. I've posted pics of my original batteries here before and someone made the comment of how dirty the tops were. Sure, it collected dirt and bugs, but it stayed somewhat wet and did the job to protect those brackets. You should see the underneath of my hood -- same thing!!
