Anyone using an old cell phone's GPS for tracking your truck in case it goes missing? Finally had to upgrade my Banana 1,000 to a new phone. Can get another line for it for $20 a month. Not sure about data usage if any..
You'd need to hardwire a charger to the truck to power the phone - but you don't want it draining the truck's battery. There are probably better ways of going about doing that, but it can't hurt to try.
I'd back it up with a bunch of well hidden RFID chips, in case thieves find the phone or disconnect the vehicle power.
This one guy on the youtube, who destroyed a Dentside, used these little i-phone disks or something to track some stuff which had been stolen from him. My comments were deleted from that video, and he accuses us of being sensitive?
Apple tags only work where there are iphones using it. The GPS on the phone is accurate anywhere anytime. Phone would be hard wired but drawing little energy. Just keeping it's battery up. I would turn off the sound. Locate from my other phone or computer. Aftermarket locaters tend to be costly to use.
you are correct. It’s a gamble using a Apple Air tag. Lot of iPhones out there though.
