okay okay okay hear me out, most of you prolly think I'm in the wrong spot but I'm putting this everywhere. So I own a 1993 f250 with the 7.3 IDI, its been a dream to PSD swap it since I've gotten it. I've just never had the money. Recently I have gotten a PSD out of a Super Duty and am gonna swap it. Some general Info on the motors would be grand. I know a decent amount about the OBS 7.3 but I know the Super Duty is more advanced, computer wise. Is there anything i need to watch out for? Has anyone done this before who can give me some tips and or short cuts to make difficult installs quicker? All info is helpful!
Complete donor vehicle. Swap with 95-97 electronicals as it's mostly plug and play.
The 99-up engine is fine but nothing will be an easy swap with a later harness (mostly interior wiring/gauges) and the big kicker is speedometer functionality and how the signals are routed through the vehicle. You will need the ABS module from a 99-01 to do the converting whereas the 95-97 is handled in the speedometer head (where you'll want the PSD tachometer anyway).
Im doing the same thing. Im prepping a 2001 7.3l ps to go in my 1993 f350. Currently, the block is at the machine shop being bored to 0.040 oversize. It took me a while to get the harness modified. That was the hard part. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...350-build.html
I am in the process of looking into the same swap with the exception being I plan on using a 94.5-95 psd since I’ve got a donor rig. I am really interested in how to strip down the wiring into something much more usable and what will need to change for engine mounts. Living in alaska makes every move and part needed into a huge cost so I have to think this through very carefully.

Reason: Bad title
The thought has crossed my mind and if this was a manual I probably would just leave it.
I have so many of the psd running around I just like to keep less on hand parts and prefer stuff that is matching to other engines, so the IDI would be the odd one out in the this case.
Of course the IDI is slated to be put into a 78 bronco just because it is so much easier is the goal down the road.
