1973 F100 4x4, FE 390, C6 transmission, 2 door standard cab. Has power steering. Dana 44 front axle, Ford 9 inch rear.
Looking into getting new steering control/elements: like center link, drag link, tie rod, and adjuster sleeve. Looking through LMC TRUCKS catalog, I see only one diagram that matches my trucks configuration; but it is under “steering controls-4 wheel drive, 1978-1979 F150 Regular Cab, and 1978-79 Bronco
w/ps (with power steering). Not under 1973 f100 4x4.
Do I assume the farm truck mechanic former owner in Idaho put a Dana 44 axle and steering elements from a bronco or F150 into my truck and carry on with ordering it without further consideration (knowing nothing of mix and match swapability), or am I replacing a problem with the same problem? The old steering elements are very rusted, are missing dust/grease boots off all the tie rod/ball joint linkages, has a large washer like element on driver side tie rod but nothing on passenger side (plus passenger side has notable gap between steering knuckle and drag link)…
