I ordered a transmission while my engine was being built a 360 FE, stroked out to a 445CI, I ordered a torque converter with a pilot size of 1.848, I had read this was the correct pilot size for the FE cranks, I also have read that scat cranks when you stroke out an inch and have dual sizes basically the first size is 1.848 and then the interior of the crank is 1.375, I have ordered two torque converter‘s oneAt 1.375 and the one that came with my transmission which is 1.848, both of these seem to be the exact same size even when I put my calibrator on them, obviously this is confusing me. The thing is they fit in the first pilot hole but I do not see how I would get my flex plate to bolt to the torque converter the torque converter nuts just don’t seem long enough without going in all the way to the crankshaft see attached pictures need help!
I think you should contact Scat's customer service dept. with the part number you bought. They should be able to tell you the solution to your problem.
Thanks to an early thread I was able to figure out that I was sent the wrong TQ, however the replacement I was sent doesn’t seem much better even though the pilot size is right anybody else think this looks wrong?
The one on the right looks like that it has a spacer on the nose. I bet if it was not on the nose it would be the same diameter as the one on the left.
The smaller one definitely has a higher stall speed. I once had a 2500 stall in my truck with a 429CJ/C6, it really pulled like crazy playing in the street. But not good for towing, and of course the fuel mileage was not too good.
