Picked up this truck a while back it’s a 1969 f100 ranger with a 360 and c6. Truck is bad shape, has been sitting for years with the bed full of trash. The bed floor is is in bad condition lots of holes. The cab is is solid with only a few small holes in floor by sill plate. Truck is solid on the underneath.
I rebuilt the carburetor and got it running, surprisingly everything but the blower motor works. Even the brakes work, I changed the oil and topped of all the fluids. Engine has two cylinders on the driver side that are not 100%. But the more I drive it the better it is running. Hopefully they will seal up if not motor will need to be gone through. I had a extra windshield gasket from my hoard. I replaced windshield and installed new gasket.

At this point I’m not positive which way I want to go with this project. I don’t have much money In it and probably could sell it for a profit. I definitely don’t need another truck but would like a project. Maybe pull the engine and do a cheap overhaul and drive it some. I have also watched a lot of the crown vic swap builds. I think that would make a cool project. Would be nice to drive with the modern suspension and 4.6 power plant.
I think you have a pretty good truck there. If the bed floor is really bad, you could do a crown vic chassis swap? I have seen a couple done and you end up with a nice riding lowered truck.

Unless you're going to keep it, I'd weigh how much money you need to put in it with the crown vic and coyote swap. Either plan for a full body off resto with patina or full restore and repaint. If you're going to do the swaps you gotta start with a good base. Not sure about the underneath but quite a few dings in the doors, fenders, tailgate might take a while to repair on top--I can't remember off hand how much you did yourself from your other threads. I know you know that but it bears repeating.
And then make sure you have the parts to trim it out like a replacement ranger grille, front bumper, ranger trim (so much trim!), the correct door panel, chrome bits, seat, windshield, matching ashtray. PERFECTION is expected for the easy bits for flipping a resto and restomod and lots of the the Ranger stuff might be hard to find.
Also just noticed the cab drip rail. If it's more than surface, that's a pita to repair.
Yep if I go the crown vic swap it will be low buck as possible. It with be mostly junk yard parts a marketplace. I am not looking for a show truck just something to have fun with. It would left as is cosmetically. I definitely will do all the work myself. All the missing trim is in the bed. The red primer is what showing through on the roof of cab. Truck was two tone originally black on top of cab and the rest white. At some point hole truck was painted black.
I feel that most people that buy flipped trucks nowadays want fully stock (not lowered) and at least mildly restored as a driver
OR a full cosmetic (and lowered) restomod. Lowered and swapped brings a different crowd than the highboy enthusiasts who prefer period-correct wear. Instead, it's full performance and all looks and people that want looks are very particular and probably are looking for show quality they just might not be "showing" it for judges. You could use this one as a test bed to learn the swap process but I wouldn't expect to make anything on the project when it comes time to selling it unless you picked this up for significantly under market.
That being said, I like it a lot and the black over white sounds like it'd be an awesome mild lowered project with an swapped or tuned engine if you can't get the current engine back in shape. Have you done drivetrain swaps before?
I have no illusions on making a profit after doing cv swap. Cost add up quick in projects like that. I just try to keep it affordable for a side project. I have done many different builds with Broncos and old for trucks. My problem is I don’t want to sell them. I don’t need the money but having five F series trucks and a bronco is crazy? But I am fine with it makes me happy, that is why we do this right.
The po replaced the rag joint and destroyed the lower column bearing and column. The shifter was also broken out of column. I had a good auto column out of a 78 bronco. It bolted right in to factory mounts but is a few inches shorter going through firewall. I had to notch the fire wall column mount for clearance shifter. Also had to make a adapter to lengthen and connect steering box. Purchased a $50 grant steering wheel from Amazon. Installed it with the adapter that came with truck.
