Just checking but you also spot-welded the mounts on, right? Those fillet welds are pretty weak and could easily fracture or bend the edge of the mount due to vertical road forces and due to the shear forces left to right. These are much weaker compared to the original spot welds. I guess at least if you hit something head on, the forces wouldn't be fracturing or shearing in that direction...I'd make at least 5 spot welds on each side from the inside of the cab!
I will spot weld the cab mounts on from the inside of cab. I wanted to get all the work done underneath while I had access to lift. Also makes spot welding easier with weight of cab on mounts. Now I can push down on floor pan and close any gaps.
Brakes and steering hooked up, went with summit racing brake booster and brackets used the crown vic master. Order steering u joints and shaft from eBay.
Installed eBay air filter kit, it is for a earlier model vic but works on my 08. I just cut section with mass air flow sensor off factory air box. I would have used factory setup but it will not clear master cylinder.
Built rear cab crossmember repurposed the factory one, built the rest out of metal I had laying around. Cut two one foot long 3x3 angle so I could mock it up and remove it to weld. I will weld the angle to the frame when I get it back on the lift. I set the cab a little bit below parallel with frame, figuring I can space it up easier than I can lower it. Looks good right now but will see how much it settles.
Hooked up the parking brake cable, no need to modify, vic cable installed juts like original. Also connected the shift cable. Used vic cable and cut off factory mount from vic column. Slotted bracket and mounts to brake booster stud. Can adjust it up and down to get in correct position. Had to make tab and weld on colum.
Cut holes on firewall for bulk connectors for wiring harness. Bolted in the harness and ran wires around engine bay. Mounted ecu and lots of ground wires installed. Still need to finish wiring inside of cab and bet pedal and fuel pump module mounted.
