You should see what properly sized crank, rod, and cam bearings do. They restrict the oil flow so much that there is pressure. I highly doubt if a smaller filter is going to cause major damage, if changed out at the right intervals.
I don't trust Jiffy Lube or any of the dealers around here on oil changes. I brought in 2 cars in my shop for an oil change and one you could feel someone had messed up the threads and probably overtightened the drain plug because it threaded in like **** and to add to this the car I did only has 53,000 miles. That one regularly goes into Ford and same guy who also brings his pickup in ruined the drain plug because of overtightening it and now they want that whole front end to come out because the oil pan needs replaced. 2nd car that previously went to Jiffy Lube tightened the drain plug up so much I almost had to get a long breaker bar to get it to break loose and I bent the oil filter all to hell because someone had overtightened that too.
Moral of the story is I wouldn't trust just anyone to do simple maintenance anymore.
Replaced my axle pivot bushings today. Followed this thread. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ispreloading=1
To get the one for the passenger's side axle to line up, I turned the wheels back and forth. I had the driver's side tires on half cinder blocks to level it out. It worked.
I still have a clunk. I'll probably do radius arm or sway bar bushings next.
Driver's side didn't look bad.
Back of the driver's side
Passengers side from the back

New passengers side going in My shop
OH I recall the back yard mechanic days long long ago. Lucky now to have a 40X50 shop with a half bath, wife loves the grease stays outside not in her sinks inside.
From the Survivalist point of view... All the Chinese have to do is stop shipping supplies to America. The country will implode due to out of spec mechanical items and lack of a supply chain.

Read the Art of War by Sun Tzu ancient Chinese military leader. In brief troops are easy to move, you order them on a ship or plane. Getting the equipment to a locations the issue you can order it, but you can pre-ship it. Just how many shipping containers are sitting in ports around the USA?
Over 24,000 military age Communist Chinese Nationals have crossed into the United States via the southern border. Let's put that into perspective. The U.S. Military unit strength for a Division is 10,000 - 15,000 military personnel. So potentially we allowed almost 2 to 3 Divisions of military age Communist Chinese Nationals into the United States! Think what havoc might result from arming these illegal Communist Chinese Nationals now in the United States! Does the term "sleeper cell" mean anything? Well a "Sleeper Division" would likely be a disaster!
Enough survivalists ............... Chinese.

Two books that are always within easy reach are the Bible and The Art of War..............
Become "at one" with nature and you will witness the changes around us that other's never see.
Control the food and control the people.
The Bible says there will be much suffering. Plan on not suffering as much as those around you.
No one is coming.
Sleep well.

You too, I suspect too many have no clue. Keep you powder dry and sleep well.
Well, almost done! For the year at least. Project started smallish with just swapping a clean bed onto the truck and snowballed into a an entire back end restoration. It was a rusty mess, but the frame was intact. Lots of Rock Auto and Bronco Graveyard orders sitting here.
What was done the my '92:
Wire wheeled the entire back frame and painted with two coats of Eastwood Rust Encapsulating paint.
New spring brackets
New 5 leaf springs
New tanks
Rebuilt and blasted the 8.8. Added a Track Lock.
Stainless brake lines
Late model exhaust from a '20 F150
Front and rear sway bars from a '94 F250 RWD (still need to bolt them in)
Brakes still need to be bled and gear oil added to the axle. Small stuff.
Takeaways so far:
With this truck hailing from the era of the transition to metric fasteners it's been a lesson in frustration with half the truck using metric and the other half still on imperial. What a PITA.
The frame brackets from Bronco Graveyard included fasteners, but they're all 3/8" and the holes in the frame are 7/16". They weren't even long enough to use washers with. Complete ****. I ended up going to the local hardware store and getting all 7/16" grade 8 fasteners.
The tank straps I bought from O'Reilly's didn't include isolator pads. The upper rear straps I bought from Rock Auto did.
The stainless pre-bent brake lines were done up by Inline Tube. The went right into place without a single issue. All the bends were exactly where they needed to be.
With the clean fenders and core support I installed last year I'm slowly restoring this old truck. Eventually when it's all said and done it'll get professional paint. I'd like to do it up like one of the Night edition trucks. For now it's Rustoleum though. Sigh...
Bit more clean up under the '96 Waldoch, front right corner today...Could do more with the wheel off (which will happen when it's not 96deg in the garage....)
