Issue with Emission Recall

I have a 2015 F-350 Diesel Dually.... Love the truck, prior had the same thing from 2004 loved that one too.

I received a recall notice on the emissions, don't want to mess with these truck's emissions so I took it in and they did what they needed but the CEL came on when I got in to drive off. The service person said oh that sometimes happens they need to do something else. So an hour and a half later they come back and said can't get the light off and can't have anyone look at it at this time... WHAT!?!? So I have been really disappointed with how Ford has handled this as well as the dealer..... when I first called they were gung ho but now they don't seem to care.

I am supposed to go to a horse campout.. do you think it's safe to drive? I mean it's running just fine. The code is a P24C6(Particulate Matter Sensor Temperature Circuit). I did a search on here and some have driven with that code? I don't have far to go for the trail ride about 200 miles round trip.... any thoughts?? Thanks for any input!

Has your truck done a regen?.....did it complete?....do you have a way of monitoring the DPF %?....Reading this attached PDF page from Ford, I wonder if you are doing a regen and if you are, how complete is it. If you are not doing a regen, there might be a possibility you get a DPF that is filled and might need to be replaced if you drive it.

I've said this a many times before in threads like these, but If your truck isn't under a factory warranty you're better off finding an independent diesel performance shop to work on your truck, preferably one that specializes in Fords. Most dealers have 1, maybe 2 knowledgeable techs then a dozen, fresh out of trade school or training, with no experience. The independent shops, generally, want people with at least few years of hands on experience, they can't afford comebacks like a factory backed dealer. They're gonna cost nearly as much as the dealer but you're most likely gonna get a higher level of workmanship then a dealer service shop that's trying to beat book times.

Edit: I forgot this was recall related so i get using the dealer. I do believe you can get a recall done outside of the dealer network and then get reimbursed through Ford.

I avoid dealers at all costs, never had a good experience in 20+ years. The last car i bought through a dealer they slapped an inspection sticker on the car, after i told them I'd take it somewhere else to get inspected. When i had an independent shop do a multi point inspection they said it should've never passed with the worn out ball joints and tie rods. Then I had a hell of a time getting it repaired under warranty because their tech said it was good. It took me blowing my top in the main showroom full of customers and threatening to get the attorney general involved before they fixed it.

JMO but think it boils down to dealer. If you are lucky to have a good small town dealer you are golden. Sadly mine was taken over by distant chain, glamor glitz and a lot of jeeps. Gave me free car wash on truck but trashed interior in the process. Security to the shop was tighter than anything FBI could dream up. Had to sit on a bar stool for an hour looking at tattoo poster child of the month. Good Lord just about had it with mafia infused dealers. If the dealer is selling Ford GT's in one corner and Huyondies in the other go to smaller town. A good sales person and entire business will bend over backwards for you for the little extra you paid. Have only bought 1 new car in my life and that was 1981, until the takeover everyone in sales shop and parts called me by name. Sorry for rant but my oil change light keeps coming on after last visit and only 2000 miles. Guess it's time to crack open the encyclopedia Britannica owners manual and reset myself.
