P2033 Code
Since I bought it and even w/ the other 2, I've used a well known brand of fuel additives or anti-gel in them w/o any problems. Come Sept '19 and 15K, Eng light comes on and it's code P2033 (or EE). Took into dealer and all they did was clear/update computer......yet when scanned at big box store that said something to do w/ Nox sensor. Suffice to say, it went back and forth like this a few times and then dealer asked me if I was using any kind of fuel additives as according to Ford they can cause the problem. I torted right back at them and said "That's BS and you know it!". "I've been using the same products for years and now problems and in this truck since new and now all of a sudden Ford says this?". "There is a problem further down the line that needs addressing to fix this". Well when all was said and done, still had the light on or came back on after it was cleared.
Being frustrated, I contacted a independent shop I went to w/ the '03 as they knew a lot about them and felt they had a better tech. He cleared the code/regend it and he said it may not work and if not being under warranty said to bring it to another Ford dealer he has close ties to and has a very good Ford diesel tech. Well light came on again and now it's off to dealer #3 (truck bought at dealer #1 and had been using dealer #2 as that's who I bought the '03 from). So they clear/update things as well as a couple other things in it they said. Now at this time it's Sept '20 and I cannot recall if light was off for few months or came on again and I just ran it till early '21. Now mind you I even told dealer #3 that I think it's a Nox sensor (like I did w/ #2). Light come on in Jan '21, take it in, lo-n-behold a Nox sensor is bad. That gets replaced in Feb '21. Month later, light comes on again. Had a trans service appt w/ them so they clear/update things yet again as Ford "supposedly" had a "new/update". Lasted 1 day and light came back on.
Called dealer up and told them and said that this is getting annoying for you and me as this makes 11x in 18 months and 15,000 miles and it's all emissions related (truck has 30k on it). He said he will tell the tech and call Ford up and get back to me. All 3 trucks have had either a winter or screen front and vents on them (winter) were open when lil warmer outside temps or towing or closed if not/colder as when I drive it to work it's only 12 miles 1 way. Don't think they would have anything to do w/ it. I have not gone to box store to scan it, but I'm 99.9% positive it's the same thing.
Any ideas as to what the H*** is going on and why this can't be fixed once and for all? Should I say, 'nuff and get a new one? Ford it seems won't let techs dive into things deeper as to root cause and I told #2&3 that the updates are not the answer or working. Despite the truck stinks in snow, I really like it for towing and the wife has even said so when she's driven it while towing. Again, I'm sorry for the long post, but it's my way of saying Hi again and bringing the long timers here to date.
P2033 – Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit High (Sensor 2)
There was a PCM/ECM update to prevent shutdown when the EGT's gave problems 5 years or so ago. I am sure their references tfor P2033 is more update via the net with Ford Resources and maybe the engineers will have a solution.
Carry it back and give the dealer and the Ford Engineers a chance to fix it as frustrating as it appear to be for you.
Here is the MY2015 Diesel OBD from Ford.

also, what grade oil are you using and what duty schedule are you using?
the oil for vehicles that tow is 5W40 or 15W40. if you use 10W30 you can be burning it. there are heavy metals in old oil and those metals raise havic on sensors.
