I am very upset that the blend door on my 1997 ford explorer needs repaired..It is going to cost me alot of money..Which I cannot afford at this time and I need heat.
Look at the top of this forum. The thread containing the info you need is right there. You sure it's the blend door? Usually when they break, heat is all you can get. Maybe your actuator is bad in the cold position?
Good luck and let us know how it turns out!
I have a 97 Explorer AWD Limited ed with 109,000 and the heat is weird. Sometimes it will work and sometimes it blow lukewarm air...If I turn the truck off and wait a couple and restart...low and behold the heat works?? Will the blend door fix,,fix this problem..Thanks
I think mine was kind of like that when the blend door first started breaking. If you have the automatic climate control or whatever, it could be that, but I'm not sure...
Anyway, my theory is that when the door first starts to break, the blower fan will force it out of position, then when you shut it off, the door moves back into position and you get heat or cold again.
Here's how I fixed mine: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...52B%25252Bdoor
Thanks..I havent done it yet..but I will check out what's wrong with it by taking off the glove compartment and seeing if its jammed or something..maybe get a diagnostics from Ford if I cant find anything..I will fix it myself due to the outrageous labor costs involved with dealerships..thanks..
I had the same problem with my Eddie Bauer a couple of weeks before my blend door finally broke. When I start my truck, instead of blowing cold air like is usually do, it blew out lukewarm air (it was in the summer), but a couple of weeks later, it was blowing HOT air in 90-degree weather. Thank goodness Max A/C will blows cold air.
