e-bay......has the door by itself for very cheeeeep....you can shave the teat off the bottom and wedge it in and save a bunch of money. You will want to buy a new condenser b/c the installation that is wrapped around has caused it to rust past the point of saving. And don't forget to get some R-22 of course
The specific refrigerant mentioned, R22, is the soon-to-be replaced home A/C - Heat Pump refrigerant, and has never been used in trucks or cars.
The condenser is mounted out in front of the radiator, not in the A/C plenum.
Check further down the main forums page for the Heating and Air Conditioning sub-forum. There are several methods to repair the blend door, from cutting the plenum to applying a 'splint' using glue and essentially popsicle sticks - if I remember correctly.
There was someone selling a 'kit' on ebay, and they may still be offering it for sale. Wouldn't hurt to check.
tom
Yes sir! R-134a. I musta had a brain TRAF last night, lol
R22 is out then 134 is next to get the axe then 410 will be in untill a better blend is deemed fit in Uncle Sam's eyes.
Welcome to FTE. As you can see, you can get lots of help. This is a great source of information about Rangers.
There is a source of info about fixing the blend door right here on the FTE site. Go back to the Ranger "index" page and click on "Technical Information." Scroll down to the Misc. section and keep going until you come to "Blend door fix" and there is an answer.
I purchased the new blend door from Oreilly's auto parts. $10.99. I have the old blend door out and it was broken where it meshes up with the blend door acuator.
My question is will the new door be able to have enough play to pop the bottom pivot in? I can feel the top part op blend door in the top hole with one hand while trying to get bottom pivot in place. I dont want to break off bottom pivot. Do I need to be more forceful while trying to get the blend door in? Thanks for all the help in advance.
I was not aware the blend door itself could be purchased thru the chain auto parts stores..... Interesting.
On the other hand, the horror stories about the blend door issues make me kinda glad my truck has dealer added A/C. Cable operated blend door, like the non A/C trucks.
