Power Steering Help

I usually hang out in the older Truck Forum but have a question I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me with.

History: I have a 1956 F-100, with a 292 (not stock), C4 automatic Trans (also not stock) with a 9" with 350 gears (again not stock)

I previously installed a Toyota power steering box and a Saginaw power steering pump.

This winter I installed a Vintage Air combination HVAC system. In doing so the belt drives changed places and I can no longer mount my power steering pump in its normal location. It shares the drive belt with the water pump and with the new A/C & alternator bracket the power steering pump belt only contacts the water pump pulley approximately 2" not providing enough contact to safely provide water circulation within the engine.

I read several individuals have converted to electric power steering pumps and decided this might be a viable option for me. The Volvo S40 pump nestles under the cab floor with no interference problems via a 1/4" home made bracket.

Whew! Now to my question.

The Volvo (has Ford motor company clearly embossed in it) calls for CHF11 or CHF202 fluid, the Toyota specs Mercon/Dexron. Soo what should I use? I really don't want to damage either the pump or the steering gear. I'm leaning toward CHF202. Anyone with experience got any suggestions?

I wouldn't use the CHF fluid because it's a synthetic. Mercon Dexron would be ok but I would just put regular power steering fluid in it.

Do you think it'll hurt the pump? I couldn't find any info on what would happen if I used ATF in it.

I read on a Toyota site not to use power steering fluid in their system. Something about seal problems.

Nothing wrong with using ATF I just wouldn't use CHF.
