It is strange that you replaced solenoid D and there was no improvement. That should have fixed it. Here is a diagram that shows where each solenoid is located.
i replaced the one in the row of three the middle one and no change

Did you clear the codes after replacing the solenoid?

The driver's side battery terminal coming off shouldn't affect anything. The body tub is the ground plane, and it's fed by the 8ga passenger neg terminal cable to the inner fender, the 12ga cable under the passenger body footwell to the frame, and the 12ga cable from the back of the motor to the firewall; three parallel circuits. So you could even lose one of them, and it would all still work.

Now, if the negative terminal were jumping on and off, that would cause some interesting alternator pulses, and the PCM might shut down if the batteries were absorbing a high charge. So that's what I think Mark is referring to.

Actually what I was thinking was that if a battery ground terminal failed, then what condition might the rest of the grounds be in. Probably didn't word it very well. Main point was the "not going to fry anything".

Off-focus stupid question: are any of those tranny solenoids identical, like some of our relays are identical in the fuse box such that you can swap them around to see if a problem follows the relay? Maybe move that Pioneer solenoid around and see what happens.

SSPC-A: Coast Clutch Solenoid - 7J136 - 3C3Z-7J136-AA
SSPC-D: Direct Clutch Solenoid - 7J136 - 3C3Z-7J136-AA

Personally, if I were taking it apart again, I would just get the Motorcraft part and be done with it.

LOL, well it was better than the neg cable idea. Only other thing was maybe something at the grad party. Cute GF, drunk HSers, pour stuff down his gas tank? Better than those silly old codes.

It was a good idea, I just hate the cheap parts store stuff. I'm prejudiced.

I agree, back in my younger days I had been lured into thinking cheap parts store stuff was equivalent to OEM. Took me awhile to learn that certain areas like electrical components are not built to the same standards as factory.
I froze thru two Minnesota winters with little to no heat because something as simple as two cheap thermostats wasn’t getting the engine warmer enough.
Now a days even getting (OEM) isn’t good enough. Get it thru a Ford dealer because counterfeit parts are lurking everywhere.
