My 2003 F350 mason dump with 351 speed has a hydraulic issue. I dont know too much about hydraulics but from what i can see the pump is mounted on the back of the trans, there is a valve under the truck under the passenger seat. The valve has 4 lines going to/from it. One line is from the pump, one goes to the bottom of the ram, one goes to the tank and one goes to the top of the ram. I dont see any bleed valve on the ram.
What is happening is when there is significant weight in the truck and i try to dump it, it is very sputtery and sometimes wont go all the way up. If I add fluid it will go all the way up but when i let it down most if not all of the fluid i added gets pushed out of the overflow.
I posted something on this earlier and most believe it is air. That would make sense except i see no way to bleed the air. Im thinking the system is self bleeding since there are hydraulic lines on both sides of the ram.
I really dont know where to begin and i cant find any info on the hydraulic system.
Any help?
