I just bought a 1995 L8000 and it has the a front pto hydraulic pump that runs off the harmonic balancer. When I hit the valve to raise the bed i realized there gauge was showing no pressure. I then checked and it was out of hydraulic fluid, I added 30 gallons and still no pressure. Has anyone worked on these? Is there a way to prime the fluid? There is a small allen head bolt on the top and when I removed it I felt a bit of air coming out so it makes me think maybe it is working but just not pulling the fluid out of the tank. Also there is a small leak in the seam of the hose. Anyone have any thoughts? I have tried a web search to no avail. Thanks in advance.
is the pump turning , and what brand of pump is it ? you can add a small amount of air pressure to the tank to help prime and at the same time have that bolt your talking about removed to let the air escape !
that small allen bolt on top of the pump , take it out and pour some oil into it till you can't pour any more in then put bolt back and start truck and see what happens !
