Air intake install

I have a 2008 ford f-250 6.4L turbo and i installed a afe intake stage 2 Si, pro dry. The installation went great but my check engine light came on with a P0101 which is the Mass or volume air flow circuit range/performance restricted air flow or faulty sensor. I replaced the sensor and made sure all parts that need to be clamped were tight and in the right way its suppose to be installed. I still have the engine light code p0101 anyone have any ideas as to what is causing the check engine light to come on???

In my experience, if the sensor location on the aftermarket intake is different than the OEM location, this often leads to a CEL. The air density measured at the sensor will be different due to the location change. It also can be caused if the area inside the intake is larger (or smaller). This is why you're getting the "range performance" trouble code.

I’m sure you did this but just for clarity did you disconnect the battery prior to installing the intake?

No. Just disconnect them and let the truck sit for a few minutes.

Ok so i did disconnect both batteries and let them sit for about an hour and i just put them back on. I DID NOT unplug the MAF senor. So i did start the truck but the check engine light is still on. Do i need to drive for a certain amount of miles?

So i did disconnect the battery cables on both batteries and i drained whatever power the pcm had waited about 30 mins and then put the cables back on and started the truck and the check engine light was still on. I drove it for about 30 miles but engine light is still on and it it still on this morning. One thing i forgot to mention is that the connector that plugs to the actual MAF sensor has 6 wires and they are different colors.purple, green with white stripe, yellow, black, blue, and green again with white stripe. Thing is one of the green wires with white stripes completely comes out of the connector but the other 5 wires are in there and not loose. Could this make the check engine light stay on????

This is the connector with the 6 wires. If you are looking at the pic its the last green wire on the right that is loose and comes out of the connector.

I don't know the wiring schematic, but I would presume that yes, a wire coming out of a connector could and would cause a CEL. If a wire has come out then the connector is no longer good - you can limp it by but you're better off buying a new pigtail and putting it on.

They're relatively cheap from Ford.

I'd plug it in, push the wire in as far as I could and put a drop of superglue on the wire to hold it in place and see if it gives a connection to clear the code. I'd still repin the plug or solder a new pigtail on at some point.....maybe.

I also thought you needed to hook it up to a scanner to fully clear all the codes, no?

Speed freak, so i did super glue the wire but its still giving me the same code P0101. I took it to a mechanic and he tested the connector and the only thing that wasn't reading according to him was the ground cable which is a black wire per the picture i previously put up. He used a more sophisticated obd machine and he couldn't pick up a code but with mine it does. Again he tested the cables with his voltage meter and the only cable that didn't make a beep was the ground.

Also, he went further down the black cable to test it again and nothing as well.
