Any tips for getting the clamp off the back of the turbo where it attaches to the collector/y pipe? Reading and watching videos it seems that one might give me some trouble.
Remove the clamp nut and then hit the collector, not the clamp. Down by where the uppies attach to maximize torque.
Diving in! So far it’s been straight forward. Noticed the boots on the spider have orange silicone all over them... I hate that stuff. Got new boots so that’s good.
Just fighting the clamp on the babies butt... oye!
Looks like my up pipes are leaking.. no surprise there. Hope the new ones work I’m a little worried about using my stock collector/babies butt but everything I’ve read says to go ahead and use it. Hmm

You can pressure test the plenum covers if you have the right size adapter and a makeshift cap for the other side. Just make sure you gave ample time for the TA-31 to cure.
So I’ve decided to leave my passenger side plenum alone. It didn’t show signs of leaking and that one is a real pain to do with the ‘one’ infamous bolt and the fuel lines being in the way. Hope I don’t regret not doing it but to be honest this job isn’t as bad as I thought it would be so if I have to do it later down the road I’ll be ok with that. Definitely glad to have help though!
Thanks again everyone for all the help I really appreciate it.
Wow what a difference! Oh man I’m very happy right now. She runs good boys thanks for all the help. You can feel it de-fuel around 23psi which seems normal. Should have no problems pulling my camper now!

Outstanding news!
Leaving the passenger side plenum alone that isn't leaking is a good plan. A lot if these plenums keep a good seal for a long time.
Great work! I’m also planning to seal up a leaky driver’s side plenum. Luckily my leak is fairly small so no huge rush.
Any tips or tricks you can share about the plenum job?
I’m running a T4 turbo setup so that aspect is different. Actually planning on leaving my turbo in place unless it gets in the way too much.

Not really it was all pretty straight forward. The turbo to collector clamp was the worst of it. For that I used a small chisel and small hammer which popped it off with some patience. I left all of the wiring harness and oil lines in place and just worked under them which was no problem.
Brake cleaner and lots of purple power cleaned up the plenum nicely. I used acetone on the sealing surfaces to ensure there was no oily residue. I wanted to do the passenger side plenum as well but it looked like a lot more work so I decided to leave it alone.
