Great part about 160/0 injectors is they are on the shelf all over the country, no need to wait for a specialty rebuilder. And hey, IH engineers knew what they were doing.

David brings up a good point, two good points really.

You can use old injector o-rings to replace the doghouse o-rings and oil filler tube o-ring. (Just another infamous SSJ hack...)

I am not a fan of pressurizing the cooling system with injectors out. If there is no coolant in the cylinders when you evacuate them, the cups are fine.

I do encourage ELC swap, but you must remove block drains and FLUSH system with drains open and water coursing through the engine to blow out all of that built up SCA fallout.

Did you say paint??

Alright updates as they come this morning.Got kids to school.

Checked torque on my lower injector bolts. Started at 120" # and worked my way up in 5inch steps up to where I hot torqued them years ago. DS were all still torqued to where I had them

Pulled the rearmost injector to allow all the fluids to drain into that cylinder since motor slopes to rear of truck.

Initial inspection to my untrained eyes shows a pretty piece of hardware. Only one concerning spot on oring, but probably to be expected after 22 years Here's pics

Suck cess ful removal

Nozzle and copper washer

Only one concerning spot on all of the external orings where the metal ring pitches together on the square one, but the sealing one under it looks great

On to the passenger side VC removal and torque checks then rear most removal. Then I'll remove the remaining DS
Stay tuned

Alright, passenger bolts were also still torqued down to what I had hot torqued them to.

Removed the passenger rear injector and let it drain into cylinder. Then went and removed the driver's side injectors. Then the passenger side.

One thing you'll need if you remove yours some day is a 5mm Allen wrench to remove the oil deflectors before you pry them up. And ideally not the bent at a 90⁰ one piece cheapies. Took some effort to break free. No way I'd want to try it with a 1" long wrench handle

All out!

Nozzles all look the same

So clean and pretty, no scorch marks anywhere on any of them

The only area of concern that wasn't at 100% visibly on the external orings. Where the metal ring pinches the flat oring

Nozzle and crush washer. No gooey oil/coolant sludgey mix like some removed injector pics

So the good news is they are all out. The bad news is... They are all out...
Well since I was at work last night and been up 21 hrs I need to try n grab a nap b4 school is out. So I'll worry about the boxing up and shipping part tomorrow after some sleep and family time. Catch y'all later

Someone wanted me to reveal the builder I'm going with, since it's not the current cool kids on the block.

Well after a lot of research I couldn't go with any less than the tried and true original. Going with Rosewood injectors, flow tested and a 3yr warranty vs the 1 or 2 yr some have. Granted the price difference is also lower, but I couldn't deviate from the long standing high reputation of Rosewood.

So now you can all breathe, it's not FFD, Swamps, or PIS who have all been having QC issues for the past few years.

No pressure Jim

F no! A flat rate box to hold 28# of my injectors!

I want them to get there this month, all intact. Not scattered thru the gov system out the side of a flimsy box.

Flat rate.... Pssshh

Good choice. You should be very pleased with what you install in the engine.

It was late, after an exhaustive day and my statement had some inaccuracies or perhaps not enough detail.

Although, some corner reinforced lauan (or another reinforcement material) in a flat rate box would probably do the trick. Flat rate is 2 day priority, which in current times equates to 4 - 5 days. You can use "click-N-ship" via USPS.com and schedule a pick up with just a few keystrokes. Alternatively, build a box and schedule a pick up with USPS, UPS or FedEx. Whichever gives you the warm fuzzy based on your delivery experiences locally.

You could call 1-800-REN-TWES and see if their services have expanded to transportation as well. Seeing as the 5 gallon "pails" of oil are too much for some to pour into a fill hole, they may be too much for some to even move around and 1-800-REN-TWES may be a full service provider now.

Support small businesses and great services when you are able to!
