Bizarre start up issue with 2001 Excursion

I am currently having a weird issue with my 2001 Ford Excursion.
See, when I go to start up the truck initially for the day, I will turn the ignition over and it will take like a good 5 seconds to successfully turn over and start the engine. Then for the rest of the day, it will start up normally.
The thing is this problem occurs very randomly, like 1 out of 3 initial startups will be like this. I believe it might be a problem with the glow plugs, but I am unsure so i would like some thought from yall.
Everything else is good, alternator is good, fuel pump is new, batteries and cables are good.
Also if you need photos, just ask

Sounds like your LPOP is leaking down while sitting. May be time to replace it.

If you are getting a lot of fuel smoke on startup, that's the glow plugs not heating the charge.

It cranks for 5 seconds and then fires off, or there is a 5 second delay in the starter engaging to crank it?

I turn the key, it makes the sound of it trying to turn over, then it turns over.

I had not considered that. I have not noticed any smoke on startup.
