I just got a letter stating my diesel needs to come in to have the EGR valve replaced due to a washer possibly getting loose and getting ingested into the turbo or engine. Did anybody else get this notice?
Well, she went in today at 8am. They are thinking two days. I found out I had four possible recalls. Number 1, egr swap out, 2, power control module reprogram,(due to emissions), 3, Day time running lights reprogram, and 4, tailgate latch upgrade. Odd thing was this morning when I went to start the truck, it just rapidly clicked and wouldn't crank. I did a quick boost charge and it fired up. I found a black tape measure jammed in front of the console shifter, it kept the shifter from seating in the park mode. I had to pry it out so I could shift the truck from park. while at the dealer ship my auto cab steps started acting all weird. I think somehow there was a power draw from the shifter not being seated, the battery monitor shut down some of the system, I hope it is all straight when I get it back. Truck is still under warranty but they said the battery is not dur to it being a wear item. Truck has only been on the road for two years according to them, even though it is a 2018. I thought the 3 and 36K covered the battery too.
Well, day three and no info on what's going on, so I called and spoke with my service rep. she says, "I see it is in line for work, but I will go and check on where it is and text you back". I hope it isn't "in line", to get worked on when they gave me a scheduled appointment over three weeks out. They wanted to have the EGR part/parts in stock for the recall. I was told they had them. Did I mention that I hate going to dealers?
Sorry for your troubles. My dealer ordered parts and when they arrived, I took the truck in the next evening to drop it off. After lunch the next day, I received a call it was done. I really don’t think many mechanics know squat about the 3.0L, or can’t read the step by step manuals.
I just got my text message. I says the tech had to order a part, which he has now, the truck is in his stall and will be done today. I hope so. I'm wondering what he could possibly have to order, from what I understood after speaking with the Service rep, the only repair that needed parts was the EGR recall, and those had been ordered over three weeks before my appointment. The other recalls were just "programming changes".
Well, got it back at 5pm. I think some how they disconnected my traction control, I did a small spinout on the black top pulling out on blacktop. Granted it was wet, but I have never noticed a slip like that in the past. So I tried to spin the tires taking off at the light, it would spin for a bit then take off. I will have to see when the streets dry. Have to reset my clock it is just over an hour off. It is raining now but I have to check out under the hood when the rain stops to see if anything sticks out as to not being reattached correctly. They didn't have the paperwork done, she said they would send it to me.
All seems well now, TC is working as it should. They must of had the battery disconnected and it had to reset or something. I do think they went in through the drivers side inner fender, I noticed a plug that was sitting on the inner fender was not attached like the others and an empty hole that will let tire spray into the engine compartment. That and my fender trim was popped loose on the bottom of the fender. After closer inspection I can see the plastic x-mass tree was bent over and not in it's respective mounting hole, allowing the flair to easily pop out from the fender. I bent the piece straight and was able to re-insert it into the proper hole, it is nice and tight now. Still have to plug the hole that is open.
