Thumbs up

I ran that Melling oil pump for a few years on the stock 15deg pump, no issues. Now it is running still with an Adrenaline pump.

Hit Man,

I ended up going with a stock rebuild from Pensacola Diesel. I just can't swing the $ for the adrenaline right now and heard mixed reviews on the 500. I know I cheapened out but I have a lot on my plate right now and I just wanted to get this truck rolling. They are great to work with and sending me another pump. No hpo with hpop dead headed. When I put the pump in it started up, ran for 10 min or so and died,, no hpo. My thinking is bad pump.

I oemed the ipr to the 42 pun main connector and check's out ok.

I tested the ipr plug with key on, both wires ok.

I made a pigtail using a old injector connector for the ipr and ran it to the battery, still no hpo.

I have 47 psi at the fuel shradder valve, but I do not think that fuel it the issue,, it's hpo.

I am totally baffled. I have a diesel mechanic coming over tonight to try to figure this out.

I have a Snap On scanner I borrowed and running some tests now.

This is the crank live time data.

RPM,,,, 169
DTC,,,, 1
BARO (inHG),,,, 30.1
BARO (HZ),,, 127
EBS,,, 31
ElecPresCon,,,, 4.9
EPC,,, 7.75
FuelPW,,,, 42
IAT (V),,, 3.37
IAT (F°),,,, 60
InjCtrlPr,,,, only went up to 14,,,, need 500psi+
InjPrsReg,,, 15

I understand that data but unsure minimums required to interpret it further for you. Swore min cranking speed was 200rpm?

No worries on pump. I waited nearly a year to save $100 on the Diesel Site sale in November. Save where and when you can is how to get ahead. Maybe they can refund you and someone has a used pump around? Mine was beat. Hotter the tune, the weaker the PSI. It was sad, even with my cute 90cc sticks.

Also, is there enough oil in the truck? I primed mine plugged in as I recall.

Yes cranking is in normal range.

Spoke with PD and they are sending another pump.

Yes Truck is full on oil. Hpop reservoir is full. I also dropped the oil filter and cranked to see it it was flowing,,,, came out like the open flood gates.

I am totally baffled.

Do they offer 17° pumps? I hear they flow more. Maybe can swindle them into one.

Not sure. They shipped it out yesterday.

I have had great luck with my 7.3 all these years.
Towed backhoes, skid steers, tractors ect. Never had a issue with power. Where I live and work it's for the most part very flat.

Mechanic stopped by this evening. Put on his scanner and did some testing and found everything good except for no hpo. His thoughts are bad hpop. He said long shot,,, the new ipr is bad but doughts it. Told me how to bench test a ipr,,, going to experiment tomorrow with the 2 I have out.

When I first came to these forums, it was in the 6.9/7.3 IDI forum. Back then, Pensacola Diesel did not have a good rep for injector pumps and rebuilt injectors for those old engines. Several people reported that the rebuilt injectors were just cleaned and sent out. By the sounds of things, they haven't changed much.

No start finally solved.

The pulsating ground going to the ipr in the ecm was bad.

I had another mechanic take a look,,, this kid is awesome. He did 3 hours of testing and finally cut the ground wire on the ipr connector,,, attached a wire lead and kept tapping on the ground on the battery,,, while he was doing that I cranked and wahla started right up. Installed another ecm on Thursday and has been running great.

Never read anywhere about this issue,,, I guess always a first.
