Thanks oldbird,

I put in a IPR I had that I thought was good and same low oil pressure.

I ordered a new IPR, should be here tomorrow. I will try that and still no luck I will order a hpop.

Hey now!

There are early and late IPRs too. Something to do with the timing cover and HPOP versus model years. I think it is 1994.5 to E1995s.

My dually is a 10/95 aka L95 for 1996MY.

Mine is a early 95. My hpop has the check valve in the upper right hole if your looking at the face of the pump.

Was unaware of different year ipr's. Will have to look into that.

Ok, another technical question. When I did the rebuild the gasket set came with 2 different hpop gaskets, 1 with 2 holes and 1 with 3 holes. After doing some research the eirlier 94 - 95.5 used the 2 holes and after 95.5 used the 3 holes. So 2 hole for the pump with check valve and 3 hole for the hpop without the check vavle.

So apparently I had installed a 3 hole gasket when I replaced the pump 2 years ago and should have had a 2 hole gasket.

What is the ramafications of this stupid mistake?

So first pic looks like the early 95's and the second pic looks like late 95's. Looks like the end is capped off.

So the one that was on the truck was the second pic,,, no capped end. The one that I put back in the truck to try was the original ,, now that you bring this up,,, the original had the capped end on it ,, aka first pic.

Apparently I had the wrong ipr,,, or the latter ones work in the earlier ones,,, that is another question that I need answered to figure out this mess.

So did the wrong hpop gasket and the wrong ipr prematurely destroy the hpop? Could this be why the engine leaked so bad?

This is the issue that happens when the model year change's mid year. People selling the parts sometimes have no clue.

Don't know about your last question. I've had 96 & two 97's.

A story, I was started over a long bridge pulling my 5er and the motor quit. Put it in neutral and crank on it, nothing. I started praying because it was a busy road and only two lanes. I cleared the bridge by a couple feet, phew! I replaced PCM, IDM, fuel filters, ICP, CPS and of course the last thing I changed out was the IPR. Started right up. I had two spares and stupid me threw it in the box with the other spare. That was probably eight years ago and I still don't know which one is bad if it happens to me again lol.

I canceled the IPR and ordered a early 95, be here mid week. Will order the pump in the am.

I try to bag, tag and write a story to everything. My grandfather taught me that. He always used to say you can't remember what you did yesterday,,, never mind a year or two ago...lol.

IPR 94.5 early 95 takes IPR with edge filter.
later takes IPR without edge filter. Check on riffraff. Per ford and my experience either will work.
Ford does not carry the edge filter ipr any more and they cross ref to the non edge filter one.

Received my hpop today. Just put it in. Cranked it a bit and was getting 200 on the gauge. Finally kicked over when the pressure went to 1000. Ran rough a bit then smoothend out. Idled perfect for a bit then quit. Now when I crank it over there is no hpop pressure. Oil pressure is normal on the gauge in the dash. Tach goes to 700. WTS light cycles.

Could the Melling 208 pump have anything to do with this issue? Is it to much oil for a 15° pump?

Any ideas??? I am competly puzzled at this point.
