this transmission has 13k on a rebuild from aamco. i havent had a single problem with it until this morning. i backed out of the driveway, put it in drive, and moved 2 foot and nothing. i had to rock the truck back and forth to get it back into the driveway. aamco says since its been 21 months im 3 months ovwr my warranty, and they wont warranty it. so as you all can imagine, after spending 3k to have them rebuild it and only getting 13k miles out of it, im not too happy. any suggestions on what this issue may be? the fluid is still bright red, not burnt, no leaks, and correct level. ive done some research, saying that there is 2 bolts that come loose? but even still its too late? please let me know some tricks before i tear into this
Please don't get me started with Aamco, they did the tranny in my 150, 21, yes, TWENTY ONE times, finally brought it a guy who has a great rep, he took it apart and said it's beyond repair, he got a core and rebuilt it and I never had another problem.
I can remember at the 3rd or 4th time the guy who pulled the pan to inspect it found a handful of bolts, washers and ball bearings, thats when the real issue started, they claimed I was abusing the truck, after fighting with corporate proving the truck had less than 1k miles since the original rebuild, and a few after that they agreed they would fix it, for the next two years they had to have spent $2k in tow bills to get it to another location.
That being said, thanks for allowing me to air it out, it appears you have either a bad rebuild, really that cant be true....., low on fluid, or it a bad pump/valve body,.
Unfortunately like most rebuilders Aamco seems to only replace what they see is bad, all reputable builders just get the whole kit and change it all.
I feel your pain.
you dont happen to still have their corporate number do you? i cant find it anywhere! online it just transfers me to that shop that did it. and im done talking to that guy.
610-668-2900. No clue who it was I got with but it was a chore without a doubt, think I went thru 15 people before someone would listen, typical franchise BS, they got paid but just dont care.

e99, 7.3, 4r100. at the moment i havent ripped the trans apart to see for myself since aamco wont fix it. i got a used trans from a wrecked quad cab. replaced it, runs and drives just fine now other than a slight hesitation when switching to o/d. however i got it done in time to plow some snow the next day and that paid for it and my plow so im not complaining at the moment. just pissed at aamco
