Hey much needed direction I’m looking to buy a transmission but mine has the od drive option does that make a difference? Can you still use a regular automatic one? Or can I just rebuild the one I have now car still goes In reverse but when I put it to drive the rpms goes up and I’m able to hit maybe about 20 mph before it goes out
Just rebuild what you have. Throwing in a cheap used transmission is always a risk. Too many dishonest *********s out there that will claim it was in perfect running condition when pulled, but it has 300k miles on it.
Bite the bullet, have it rebuilt by a reputable shop that will provide a warranty.
Might also consider a reman trans? Jasper and monster are 2 common rebuilders that should offer a decent warranty. I'm sure there are others as well. Depends on how long you want to keep the truck.
if you don't plan on keeping it very long just slap a junkyard beauty in it and hope for the best untill you get rid of it. But if you plan to keep it, I wouldn't recommend that option if you can afford to get a rebuild one way or another.
