6.7 dies while towing

2018 6.7 gives a reduced engine speed while towing up hill with max boost. Engine just shuts down. No codes or check engine lights. Cranks right back up and goes again. Any ideas? New to forum.
Thanks

Did you recently replace fuel filters? Or add an aftermarket item to the fuel system?

EGT's?

What about codes or check engine light or the wrench indicating a power train fault?

I doubt the problem is the fuel filters, but if you're towing, the fuel filter change interval isn't 30K, it's 15K.

How much are you towing? Pickup or chassis cab? What are the engine oil and coolant temperatures just before it shuts down?

Yes, put some weight behind it and run 80mph up a hill.
the more weight, the quicker it shuts down.

Get a service tech in the passenger seat and get them to connect to the system when you reproduce the problem. Otherwise, they'll never reproduce it themselves.

I'm really interested to know the outcome of this since temps are very reasonable but seems temp related (more weight, more heat = faster shutdown). What does the analog temp gauge show prior to shutdown? Bad sensor somewhere is my guess. Does your dash report soot percentage?

what type of code reader are you using?

sounds like an egt#3 problem to me

use forscan to review cold egt temps

compare the #3 egt to see if it is hundreds off from the others when cold.

Hooked up a reader and replicated shut off. Got a P0093, large fuel leak. No fuel leak existed. Once truck restarted, truck cleared code on its own. Replaced fuel regulator on the end of the rail. Will follow up after a few days of running.
