One of my pet peaves on any of these forums. People join to try to solve a problem and then do not related how it was solved or if it was. I am not having this issue btw, lol
Regulator didn’t solve, replace additional sensors up top. That didn’t fix either. Have run with computer and did notice the drop in fuel pressure. Maybe lift pump? Injectors?
My dad had a similar problem while towing (2015 F250 towing 5th wheel). Loss of power, truck in derate mode, limped into town. It did throw a code (don't remember what it was exactly) but something along the lines of a P003A, turbo vanes exceeded limits. Basically he was trying to pass a vehicle going uphill and had his toe in the gas pedal for too long and the truck thought there was a problem because the turbo vanes were maxed for too long. The solution was a reprogram at the dealer.
Has anyone else had this issue and resolved it? I’ve been having this issue for about the last 25k miles it’s been in and out of dealership for about 1.5 months now replaced fuel tank, filters, fuel rail, few fuel lines and think 1-2 more things. But they can’t figure out what’s causing it. Only happens when I’m towing my heavier trailers (+8K)
2017 f250
buddy of mine has a flat bed not sure year but around same year doing the same thing his is more common but his truck weight about 6k more than mine.
This is weird. I would take the trailer down to the dealer and take the tech for a ride and see if you can get it to die. He can hook up his computer and see what is happening. Once the truck dies what does it take to get the truck to start? It sounds electrical to me. Could be something in the trailer wiring. Maybe do a test and hook up the trailer and don't plug in the connector. You have to eliminate something. I can't believe just hooking up a trailer alone would cause this but plugging in the wires may cause something.
2018 6.7 gives a reduced engine speed while towing up hill with max boost. Engine just shuts down. No codes or check engine lights. Cranks right back up and goes again. Any ideas? New to forum.
Thanks
Did you ever figure this out, mine has started to do it and realized it’s only when I tow.
Replaced both and never had that problem again. Shop said something about voltage for electronics or some such nonsense. All I know is it worked.
Also, I replaced the batteries not the shop. It still had the problem when I left the shop as I wanted a specific battery and had to drive a few towns over to get them. Couldn't get over Grapevine, had to drive around the long way. New batteries and away I went, no more problem.
Second time this happened w me. Yesterday and today. Towing a small utility trailer 2k lbs and when driving uphill engine cuts off and no warning light showing. Starts right up again and drover for the rest of the day. I am wondering if anyone has any fix set for this issue.
I got here late but I have a couple questions. You said "towing at max boost" and "if I feather engine uphill it does not shut down" So what PSI was the boost at? I ask because I have a similar problem (2014) I have been chasing for a year and a half. My truck will sometimes under max throttle over boost all the way to 40 PSI if I let it. I watch it close to control it but the first time it happened I felt it defueling and got out of the throttle so it might have been on the way to shut down IDK. At other times it runs perfect with max boost at 24PSI. No codes or check engine lights, I have changed all the stuff I think might be the problem. except boost control. I recently spent 3 weeks towing my 15K lb 5th wheel around NY and PA through plenty of mountains. At times when I needed max power I got it as normal. Several other times it would over boost and I would have to "feather the throttle" to get up the grade. And of course I was in everybody's way. I have a tune loaded to stock power. Ford had the truck but blamed the over boost on my tuner. Problem is the truck was tuned a couple years before this started. So, I'm on here to see if you or anyone else gets a solution. thanks in advance for any help.
