What is your opinion on where to mount the license plate on my 62 Flare Side? The old bumper was no longer usable and was made for towing so I have no reference for it. Aftermarket bumper has no mount holes but I can drill it if that is the "normal" location. I do not want to use the stock over the rear stoplight bracket so need a new idea. I'm thinking in the center of the bumper...
I'd definitely consider on the side. Depends what you want to convey, but on the side is so "not modern", it's cool. NTL, I just looked at my wrong bed with center mounted, and I don't think it would look good on the side. I think the bracket mounted tail lights are what makes it work.
Is that an optical illusion or is that bumper way behind the tailgate? Is it on stock brackets? On the Lic. Plate ? I like the Tail light bracket.
I need a side pic, it looks like there's a gap between the tail gate and bumper. I've tried looking at it different, but it hasn't helped and it's killing me.
Really not any "good" places to put one aside from the stock location, if you do put it on the bumper, you'll also have to install some type of light for it. I vote for stock location out of default...
The only problem with the side mount is the bracket puts the plate behind the bumper. At least thats how my 56 is. In NY state it is considered blocked from view. I always tell em to check how it was set up from the factory, then you can give me the ticket and I`ll win in court every time. and yes it does look better than in the middle IMHO.
That bumper looks like it is mounted to low but could also be the angle?
Part of the issue on your trucks is no rear bumper was offered from the factory but states required the bumper and now you end up with :where to mount the plate"?
Look at the 80 - 86 flare sides and maybe 87> that also used a "flare side" bed.
This is where the factory mounted it and the bumper.
The plate bracket is mounted to the rear sill panel with 2 bolts.
The bracket also holds the light and this light was used in many models of Ford cars.
